Management Accountant

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and analytical Management Accountant to join their established finance department in Birmingham . This role is crucial in providing essential management information that drives strategic decision-making across various business units. You will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting, working closely with departmental heads to understand financial performance. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
• Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department managers to set financial targets.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis , investigating significant deviations and providing actionable insights.
• Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management, highlighting key trends and risks.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new management accounting procedures and systems.
• Support the financial audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Requirements

• ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in a management accounting role.
• Strong understanding of financial modelling and data analysis techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills for data manipulation and reporting.
• Experience in cost accounting and performance metrics analysis.
