Job Description
Manchester's regeneration needs a senior electrical engineer who runs it
Abbey Hey, Greater Manchester, GB, M18 8
Application deadline: T15:11:32.31
About the Role
Manchester is rebuilding itself at pace, and most of the interesting schemes have the same problem: not enough senior electrical engineers who can run the design rather than shadow it. This one is at one of the UK's largest interdisciplinary design practices, where the electrical team shares a studio with architects, mechanical engineers, lighting designers, and sustainability specialists.
The workload spans healthcare, education, culture, workplace, and city-scale regeneration, most of it within walking distance of the office that designed it.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design from concept through construction: infrastructure, distribution, controls, and coordination of interdisciplinary work.
- Run client relationships.
- Review the work of younger engineers.
- Support schemes with a full technical bench when projects become complex.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong electrical building services design experience.
- Comfort leading packages on sizeable projects.
- Chartership either achieved or close, with a structured route available for those still finishing it.
Additional Information
Salary is between 47,000 and 60,000. The role is based in the Manchester studio, a short walk from Piccadilly, in a building the practice designed for itself as a working example of the low energy engineering it promotes.
If your current firm keeps promising you the next big scheme and handing it elsewhere, consider this opportunity to join a scheme that already exists.
