Manufacturing Engineer - Process Improvement

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic manufacturing firm specializing in precision engineered components, is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer focused on Process Improvement to join their operations in Sunderland . This role is key to enhancing production efficiency, reducing waste, and implementing best practices across the manufacturing floor. You will analyze current production processes, identify areas for optimization, and lead projects to implement new technologies and methodologies. Working closely with production teams, quality control, and R&D, you will play a vital role in maintaining the company's competitive edge and ensuring the highest standards of manufacturing excellence, contributing to the industrial heritage of the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement using lean manufacturing principles.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance production efficiency , reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
• Design, test, and implement new manufacturing techniques, equipment, and technologies.
• Collaborate with production staff to provide technical support, training, and guidance on new processes and equipment.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, quality, and cost, and report on progress.
• Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment , with a strong focus on process improvement and lean methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
• Proficiency in process analysis tools and techniques, including value stream mapping and root cause analysis.
• Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, fabrication) and related equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in Sunderland .
