Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer
Harome, North Yorkshire
Permanent | 37 hours per week | Monday to Friday | Half day Friday
Are you a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys getting onto the shop floor, finding out why a manufacturing problem is happening and taking ownership of putting it right?
We are recruiting for an established engineering and manufacturing business in North Yorkshire, looking to add an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to their team.
This isn't a role for somebody who wants to approach manufacturing problems purely from a theoretical perspective. You'll work closely with Production, Process Engineering and the wider manufacturing team, investigating issues at source, driving root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions that prevent problems from happening again.
What you'll be doing
- Investigating manufacturing problems and non-conformances directly within the production environment
- Leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activity
- Getting hands-on with production teams to understand problems at component and process level
- Identifying the true root cause of manufacturing issues and implementing effective corrective actions
- Taking ownership of actions through to completion and helping prevent repeat non-conformance
- Supporting first-off manufacture and improvement activity
- Driving continuous improvement using lean tools and techniques to reduce waste and improve efficiency
- Identifying process improvements throughout the manufacturing cycle
- Working with Production and Process Engineers on tooling, materials, support fixtures and jigs
- Supporting the creation and development of job cards, production planning documentation and process plans
- Helping ensure estimated manufacturing hours and material requirements accurately reflect the production process
- Supporting structured handover of components into production
- Attending material review board meetings and completing relevant engineering actions
You'll ideally have:
- Strong hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
- Proven experience investigating manufacturing problems and non-conformances
- Strong root cause analysis and corrective action experience
- Examples of personally taking an issue from investigation through to permanent corrective action
- A practical approach to problem solving, with the confidence to work directly with operators and production teams
- Experience within low-volume, bespoke, precision or complex manufacturing
- Continuous improvement experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills across Engineering, Production and Quality
- An ONC/HNC in Mechanical or Production Engineering, recognised apprenticeship, similar technical qualification, or relevant transferable experience
What's on offer

- Monday to Friday
- Half day Friday
- 200 hours annual leave plus statutory bank holidays
- Sick pay entitlement after three months
- Enhanced pension contribution options
