Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester (commutable from Rochdale, Middleton, Ashton-under-Lyne, Bury, Manchester) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience + benefits Job type: Permanent | Full-time Sector: Engineering / Manufacturing Manufacturing Engineer Fabrication A well-established Fabrication business (laser cutting, CNC folding, welding, painting and assembly, around 105 production staff) is looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to own how its products are made from design handover through to a stable, repeatable production process. This is a shop-floor role, not a desk job. You'll spend real time on the line with operators, building robust processes and solving problems at the cause. If you like being where the work actually happens, this one will suit you. What you'll be doing Driving New Product Introduction (NPI) from design handover to production manufacturability reviews, process routings, tooling and fixture requirements, first-off inspection and trial builds Applying DFM and DFA in CAD and feeding practical manufacturing feedback back to Design Designing jigs, fixtures and manufacturing aids to remove process variation at source Writing and maintaining detailed Work Instructions and SOPs that reflect what actually happens on the line Running root cause analysis on process issues and putting in fixes that hold not workarounds Applying Lean principles to cut waste, handling and cycle time, and tracking the benefit of each change Supporting FAT, equipment trials and process validation ahead of full production release What you'll need Proven Manufacturing or Process Engineering experience in a production environment ideally sheet metal (laser, CNC folding, welding) Computer literate, with a practical grasp of CAD, DFM/DFA and engineering drawings A track record of solving problems at the root cause, not just managing the symptoms Comfortable spending real time on the shop floor, working directly with operators HNC/HND in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
Desirable
