Job Description
Job Title: Manufacturing Technician II (Machine Operator / Setter)
Location: Basingstoke (Houndmills Industrial Estate)
Pay Rate: £13.46/hr + 20% Shift Allowance (Total Rate: £16.15/hr | £33,500/yr equivalent)
Shift Pattern: Mon - Fri | Rotating Shifts: 06:00 - 14:00 & 14:00 - 22:00 (40 hrs/week)
Contract Duration: 6-Month Contract (Overtime Available)
About the Role
We are recruiting a Manufacturing Technician II for a leading global business based in Basingstoke. In this hands‑on role, you will be setting up, operating, and maintaining cutting, forming, and machining equipment to produce high‑precision workpieces.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate cutting, forming, grinding, or CNC/manual machine tools.
- Tooling & Alignment: Select, install, and align drills, cutters, dies, and holding devices using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Quality Inspection: Read technical blueprints/job orders and inspect workpieces using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure strict dimensional accuracy.
- Minor Maintenance: Perform routine machine care (oiling, cleaning, coolant top‑ups, changing worn tools) and make minor mechanical/electrical adjustments.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in machine setting, operating, or mechanical production environments.
- Basic ability to read blueprints and technical engineering drawings.
- Proficient with precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, calipers).
- Comfortable working alternating weekly shifts (06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00).
