Manufacturing Technician

Location: Cambridge (CB4) Duration: 3 months initially with the possibility to go permanent Hours: 8am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday (37.5 hours) - can be flexible with start times Salary: £15 per hour Job Reference: 36287

Polytec are looking for a Manufacturing Technician to support the manufacture, assembly and testing of innovative scientific instrumentation and associated components for our Cambridge based client. This hands-on role will involve mechanical and electrical assembly, testing, fault finding and continuous improvement, working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test mechanical, electrical and scientific equipment
• Carry out functional testing, diagnostics and fault finding
• Investigate production issues and identify root causes
• Interpret engineering drawings, BOMs and technical documentation
• Support new product introductions and engineering changes
• Provide technical support to the production team
• Improve manufacturing processes, quality and efficiency
• Maintain accurate production and test documentation

Requirements

• At least 2 years' experience in a relevant technical/manufacturing role
• Experience in high-tech manufacturing, ideally scientific, medical, laboratory or electronic equipment
• Hands-on experience with mechanical and /or electrical assembly
• Experience with testing, fault finding and technical problem solving
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A genuine interest in engineering and manufacturing
• Experience with electrical wiring, test equipment, ERP/MRP systems or a formal engineering qualification would be advantageous
