About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Marine Electrical Engineer to join their team in the maritime hub of Plymouth, Devon . This role is integral to the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems on marine vessels and offshore structures. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, safety, and optimal performance of all electrical equipment in a demanding marine environment. This position offers the chance to apply your electrical expertise in a unique and challenging industry, contributing to significant maritime projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify electrical power distribution systems, navigation systems, and communication equipment for marine applications.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems onboard vessels.
- Conduct inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of marine electrical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with classification society rules and international maritime regulations.
- Collaborate with naval architects, project managers, and vessel crews.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for marine electrical assets.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
- Experience working with electrical systems in a marine or offshore environment.
- Knowledge of marine electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
- Familiarity with marine propulsion systems, generators, and control systems.
- Ability to interpret complex shipyard and vessel drawings.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures in a marine context.
