About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Marine Electrical Engineer to join their technical team in Portsmouth . This role is dedicated to the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems for marine vessels and associated infrastructure. You will work on exciting projects, ensuring the seamless integration and operation of power generation, distribution, navigation, and communication systems in a maritime context. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of marine electrical principles and a passion for naval engineering and technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for new builds and refits of marine vessels.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with marine standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and electronic systems onboard vessels.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for marine electrical equipment.
• Ensure adherence to relevant maritime regulations and classification society rules.
• Liaise with clients, shipyards, and suppliers to manage project requirements and deliverables.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with a specialization in marine applications.
• Experience (4+ years) in marine electrical engineering, including power systems, distribution, and control.
• Knowledge of marine electrical standards (e.g., ISO, ABS, Lloyd's Register).
• Familiarity with marine navigation and communication systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
