Marine Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a specialized Marine Electrical Engineer to join their team based in Plymouth . This hybrid role involves a mix of on-site work and remote responsibilities, focusing on the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems for marine vessels and offshore structures. You will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of complex marine electrical equipment. Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for new marine builds and refits, including power generation, distribution, and control.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment onboard vessels.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on marine propulsion, navigation, and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure all electrical installations comply with maritime regulations (e.g., DNV, ABS, Lloyds Register).
• Collaborate with naval architects, shipbuilders, and marine crews to integrate electrical systems effectively.
• Develop and maintain electrical drawings, documentation, and maintenance schedules.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with a specialization in marine applications preferred.
• Several years of experience in marine electrical engineering or a similar maritime context.
• Knowledge of marine electrical standards, regulations, and classification society requirements.
• Familiarity with marine power generation, distribution, and control systems.
