Marine Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leader in marine technology, is seeking a qualified Marine Electrical Engineer to join their operations in Plymouth, Devon . This role is critical for the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems on vessels and maritime structures. You will be involved in ensuring the seamless operation of power generation, navigation, communication, and control systems within the demanding marine environment. The ideal candidate will have specialized knowledge of marine electrical standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and specify electrical systems for marine applications, including power generation, distribution, and propulsion.
• Install, test, and commission electrical and electronic equipment on board vessels.
• Perform diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of complex marine electrical and electronic systems.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, classification society rules, and safety standards.
• Collaborate with naval architects and other marine engineers on vessel design projects.
• Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance, and repairs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• Proven experience (3+ years) as an Electrical Engineer within the marine industry.
• Strong knowledge of marine electrical codes, standards (e.g., IEC, DNV, ABS), and best practices.
• Familiarity with marine power systems, navigation equipment, and control systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to work at sea or in shipyard environments as required.
