About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Marine Equipment Technician to join their team based in the Portsmouth area. This hands-on role involves the installation, maintenance, and repair of specialized marine equipment aboard vessels. You will work with a variety of systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability in demanding maritime environments. Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test specialized marine equipment, including navigation systems, communication devices, and power generation units.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and preventative servicing on marine machinery and systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical, electrical, and electronic marine equipment.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Ensure all work complies with maritime safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a technician working with marine equipment, or a strong background in mechanical/electrical engineering with relevant transferable skills.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Experience with navigation systems , communication equipment, or power systems is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a shipyard or on-board environment.
• Must possess a valid UK driving license and be willing to travel as required.
• Strong understanding of maritime safety procedures and practices.
