About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Marine Mechanical Engineer to join their maritime engineering team in Plymouth . This role involves the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical systems for marine vessels and offshore structures. You will work on a variety of projects, ensuring the highest standards of performance, safety, and regulatory compliance within the demanding marine environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering principles and a passion for contributing to innovative maritime solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, and integrate mechanical systems such as propulsion, power generation, and HVAC for marine applications.
• Conduct structural analysis and performance simulations for marine mechanical components.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment on vessels.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules and repair procedures for marine machinery.
• Ensure compliance with relevant maritime regulations and classification society rules.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered during sea trials or operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the marine or offshore engineering sector.
• Solid understanding of marine propulsion systems, hydraulics, and onboard power generation.
• Familiarity with maritime classification society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV).
• Proficiency with relevant CAD software and engineering simulation tools.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage project tasks efficiently.
