About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Operations Manager to lead their maritime activities based in Plymouth . This critical role involves the oversight and management of all marine-related operations, including vessel deployment, crew management, safety protocols, and environmental compliance. You will ensure the efficient and safe execution of maritime tasks, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the operations team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in maritime operations, exceptional leadership qualities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and operational integrity in a challenging coastal environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all aspects of daily marine operations, including vessel scheduling, deployment, and resource allocation.
- Ensure strict adherence to all maritime safety regulations, including ISM Code, SOLAS, and local regulations.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of marine crew, ensuring adequate manning levels and competence.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and policies to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.
- Manage vessel maintenance programmes, coordinating with technical teams and external service providers.
- Oversee budgeting and financial control for marine operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all marine operational matters, liaising with clients, authorities, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in maritime operations management, preferably within a commercial or chartering environment.
- Strong knowledge of international and domestic maritime regulations and safety standards.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate diverse crews.
- Experience in budget management and financial control within an operational context.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Relevant maritime qualifications (e.g., Deck Officer CoC, Master Mariner) are highly advantageous.
