Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Social Worker

Location: Cardiff Bay Police Station
Working Environment: Office-based, co-located with partner agencies

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced MASH Social Worker to join a fast-paced, multi-agency safeguarding team based at Cardiff Bay Police Station.

You will be responsible for the timely assessment of contacts and referrals , identifying children and families who may be at risk and ensuring appropriate safeguarding action is taken.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess incoming contacts and referrals to the MASH and identify levels of risk.
• Undertake timely safeguarding assessments and determine appropriate next steps.
• Gather and share information with Police and other partner agencies .
• Participate in multi-agency strategy discussions to support safeguarding decision-making.
• Identify children at risk and ensure appropriate safeguarding actions are initiated.
• Manage a constantly changing workload while maintaining a high standard of professional decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure effective information sharing and risk management.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working as a Children’s Social Worker , ideally within MASH, duty or a front-door safeguarding service.
• Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures .
• Experience assessing risk and making timely professional decisions.
• Experience working effectively with multi-agency partners .
• The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, assessment and decision‑making skills.

Please note: This is a non‑case‑holding role , focused on the assessment and triage of new safeguarding contacts and referrals rather than ongoing case management.
