Job Description
Material Planner
£40,000 to £48,000 + benefits
On-site, full-time
We are working with a complex manufacturing business to recruit a Material Planner into a predominantly procurement-focused role, responsible for ensuring the right materials are available to support production against a rolling three-month plan.
The role will manage multiple material categories and suppliers, with a strong focus on alloy and engineered materials used within regulated manufacturing environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage material requirements against a rolling three-month production plan
- Place and manage purchase orders across multiple material categories
- Ensure material availability supports production schedules and customer demand
- Work closely with suppliers to manage lead times, shortages and delivery performance
- Monitor stock levels, consumption and future material requirements
- Expedite critical materials where required
- Work closely with Production Planning, Procurement, Operations and Quality
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data and purchasing information
- Support supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement activity
- Identify supply risks and take proactive action to protect production
About you:
- Previous experience within material planning, procurement or supply chain in a manufacturing environment
- Strong multi-category purchasing or material management experience
- Experience working with alloy, metal or engineered material supply chains is highly desirable
- Aerospace or automotive experience would be particularly relevant
- Candidates from other regulated industrial manufacturing environments will also be considered
- Comfortable working with MRP/ERP systems and production planning data
- Strong supplier management and commercial skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where material availability is critical
