About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Materials Planner to manage material flow for their manufacturing operations. As a fully remote team member, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and components required for production, optimising inventory levels, and minimising supply chain disruptions. You will work closely with suppliers, procurement, and production planning teams to maintain seamless operations. This role is perfect for an experienced planner who thrives in a virtual environment and excels at strategic inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute detailed material requirement plans based on production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to optimise stock holding and minimise costs.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, monitor lead times, and address any supply chain issues.
- Process purchase orders and manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Analyse inventory data and identify opportunities for improvement in material flow and cost reduction.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams (procurement, production, logistics) to ensure alignment and smooth operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Materials Planner or in a similar supply chain/planning role.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), and JIT (Just-In-Time) methodologies.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced planning software.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to manage complex data sets.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setting.
