Mechanical Design Engineer (3D CAD)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and creative Mechanical Design Engineer with strong 3D CAD skills to join their team in Southampton . You will be responsible for creating precise technical drawings and models, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all functional requirements. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software.
• Perform basic stress, thermal, and kinematic analyses to support design decisions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Create and maintain comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation.
• Support the prototyping and testing phases, making design revisions as necessary.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical qualification.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on CAD modeling and drafting.
• Proficiency in at least one major 3D CAD package (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA ).
• Understanding of common manufacturing processes and material properties.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality design documentation.
