About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to their groundbreaking work with advanced materials in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on the mechanical design and integration of systems that utilize novel materials, requiring a blend of traditional engineering principles and a forward-thinking approach. You will work closely with research scientists and product development teams to translate material properties into functional, high-performance designs. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components intended for use with or comprising advanced materials .
- Conduct thorough structural and thermal analyses to assess the performance and limitations of designs incorporating new materials.
- Collaborate with material scientists to understand material properties and how they impact design choices and manufacturing processes.
- Prepare detailed design documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and material specification sheets.
- Support prototype testing and validation, interpreting results and iterating on designs as needed.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with exposure to or specific experience with advanced materials .
- Proficiency in CAD software and experience with material characterization and testing data.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes suitable for diverse material types.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, hybrid R&D environment.
