Mechanical Design Engineer - Aerospace

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their prestigious aerospace division in Cardiff . This role is essential for the design, development, and testing of critical aerospace components and systems, ensuring the highest standards of safety and performance. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical systems and components for aerospace applications, meeting stringent industry regulations and performance criteria.
• Generate detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using specialised aerospace design software.
• Perform stress analysis , fatigue analysis, and other engineering calculations to ensure design integrity and safety margins.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and testing teams to oversee the production and validation of designed components.
• Investigate and resolve design issues, implement modifications, and contribute to the continuous improvement of aerospace product lines.
• Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation in accordance with aerospace industry standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent aerospace engineering qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on the aerospace sector .
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5, Siemens NX) and knowledge of aerospace design standards.
• Strong understanding of aerospace materials , manufacturing processes, and relevant industry certifications (e.g., AS9100).
• Experience with FEA tools for structural and thermal analysis is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions in a disciplined environment.
