About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and proactive Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative automotive division based in Newcastle upon Tyne . Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative mechanical components and sub-systems for automotive applications, adhering to strict performance and safety standards.
- Utilize 3D CAD software to create detailed designs, prototypes, and manufacturing drawings for complex assemblies.
- Conduct thorough design validation through simulations, calculations, and prototype testing to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with the wider engineering team, manufacturing specialists, and external suppliers to ensure successful product development and launch.
- Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis for any design-related issues encountered during development or in production vehicles.
- Stay abreast of emerging automotive technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into designs.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) as a Mechanical Design Engineer, preferably within the automotive industry .
- Proficiency in using CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar for 3D modelling and drafting.
- Understanding of automotive components , materials, and manufacturing processes like injection moulding and metal forming.
- Experience with CAE tools for analysis and simulation (e.g., FEA, CFD) is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in a hybrid work setting.
