About the Role

Our client, a leader in marine engineering, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth, Devon, UK . This role involves the design and development of complex mechanical systems for marine and offshore applications, including subsea equipment and vessel components. You will play a key part in conceptualizing, designing, and ensuring the robustness of mechanical solutions in challenging maritime environments. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for marine and offshore projects, adhering to industry standards.
• Utilize CAD software to create detailed designs, schematics, and bills of materials for fabrication and assembly.
• Perform structural and dynamic analyses to ensure the integrity and performance of designs under harsh conditions.
• Collaborate with naval architects, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and project success.
• Conduct design reviews, identify risks, and implement solutions to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related maritime engineering discipline.
• Proven experience (4+ years) in mechanical design, specifically within the marine or offshore industry .
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of materials suitable for marine environments, corrosion resistance, and hydrostatic pressures.
• Familiarity with relevant marine codes and standards (e.g., DNV, ABS).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
