Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is integral to the development of innovative mechanical systems and products, requiring a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of engineering principles. You will be responsible for taking designs from concept through to detailed engineering, working collaboratively with manufacturing and R&D departments. This position offers a dynamic work environment and a hybrid working model, allowing for flexibility and a balance between office-based collaboration and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine mechanical designs for components and systems using advanced CAD software.
• Produce detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for manufacturing.
• Conduct engineering calculations and simulations to assess design performance and durability.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
• Support the prototyping and testing phases, analysing results and implementing design improvements.
• Maintain accurate design documentation and revision control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and basic FEA tools.
• Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerancing principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a hybrid team .
