Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Edinburgh . Key Responsibilities

• Develop and refine 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies using CAD software .
• Conduct engineering calculations and simulations (e.g., stress, thermal) to validate design performance and integrity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing and quality assurance, to ensure designs are producible and meet specifications.
• Support prototype builds and production phases, troubleshooting any mechanical issues that arise.
• Research and evaluate new materials and manufacturing technologies for potential application in designs.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and documentation standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in mechanical design and component development.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar.
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, sheet metal).
• Good understanding of mechanical principles and materials science.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, essential for effective hybrid work .
