Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join their expanding engineering department based in Plymouth . This role will involve conceptualizing, designing, and developing mechanical systems and components for new and existing products. You will work on challenging projects, utilizing CAD software and engineering principles to create innovative and reliable designs. The successful candidate will be passionate about engineering, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative, hands-on environment in Devon .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for manufacturing.
• Perform stress analysis, simulations, and prototyping to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are producible and meet quality standards.
• Contribute to design reviews and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or in a similar design role.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and PDM systems.
• Strong understanding of material science, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
