About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team based in Coventry . You will play a key role in conceptualizing, designing, and developing new mechanical products and systems. This position requires a blend of creative design thinking and rigorous engineering analysis to ensure optimal performance and manufacturability. Working within a dedicated R&D department, you will contribute to cutting-edge projects, collaborating with a team that values precision, efficiency, and forward-thinking solutions in the West Midlands industrial hub.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative mechanical designs for new products and components using CAD software .
- Create detailed technical drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Perform feasibility studies, design reviews, and prototype testing to validate concepts.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are optimized for mass production.
- Investigate and resolve design-related issues that arise during development or post-production.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing product lines through design modifications.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in mechanical product design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software is mandatory.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is desirable.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
