Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in the coastal city of Plymouth, Devon . This role is essential for designing and developing new mechanical systems and components that meet stringent performance and quality requirements. You will work on exciting projects, applying your technical expertise from concept generation through to detailed design and implementation. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Create detailed technical drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Conduct calculations and basic simulations (e.g., stress analysis ) to ensure designs meet requirements.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are suitable for production and cost-effective.
• Participate in design reviews, offering constructive feedback and contributing to problem-solving.
• Assist in the testing and validation of prototypes and final products.

Requirements

• BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software and a good understanding of engineering principles.
• Knowledge of common manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and fabrication.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage individual tasks efficiently.
