About the Role
Our client is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their established team in Southampton . This role is central to the design and development of innovative mechanical products, requiring a blend of technical expertise and practical application. You will be involved in all phases of the design process, from initial concept generation to final production readiness, ensuring that designs are robust, efficient, and meet client specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Design and detail mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software , ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations, including stress, thermal, and fluid dynamics analysis.
- Create manufacturing drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and other technical documentation.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve design-related issues during production.
- Support prototype development and testing activities, documenting results and implementing necessary design changes.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and materials relevant to mechanical design.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical product design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD packages.
- Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and other simulation techniques is advantageous.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and material properties.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
