Job Description
Mechanical Design Engineer – Trafford Park | Up to £60,000 (DOE) | Permanent
We're working with a specialist machinery business based in Trafford Park, delivering high quality engineering solutions to leading names across manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical, food processing, chemical, aerospace, aggregates and utilities. It's a small, close-knit engineering team, working on a genuinely varied range of products and projects across a wide section of industries - no two jobs are the same.
The business is growing, and they're looking for someone who wants to be properly hands-on - involved in design from concept right through to fabrication and build, not just sat behind a screen.
The role:
* Designing and developing mechanical parts, assemblies, enclosures and product packaging using parametric 3D CAD (Solidworks essential, other packages considered depending on background)
* Working with Solidworks PDM
* Taking mechanical designs from customer requirement through to final fabrication and assembly
* Specifying materials and manufacturing processes, including plastic mouldings, welding and sheet metal parts
* Applying knowledge of kinematics, motion control and pneumatic systems
* Using simulation and analysis software to model and test designs
* Producing documentation and working instructions
* Contributing to continuous improvement within the team
What they're looking for:
* Experience in a mechanical engineering role
* Solidworks skills (or similar), with hands-on experience is a plus
* Good working knowledge of fabrication - welding, turning, milling, build
* Understanding of GD&T and product testing/evaluation methods
* A quick learner, comfortable working as part of a small team
* Full UK driving licence
Package:
* Up to £60,000, depending on experience
* 28 days holiday including bank holidays
* Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
* Please note: this role is fully office/site-based
*
Requirements:
* Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK - unfortunately sponsorship isn't available for this role
