Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled and adaptable Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team on a contract basis, supporting projects from their base in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK . This role involves contributing to the detailed design and development of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet all functional and performance requirements. You will work within a project-driven environment, collaborating with engineers and technicians to bring new product designs to fruition. Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
• Conduct design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection for mechanical components.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design for manufacturability.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including specifications and test plans.
• Support the testing and validation of prototype designs, providing feedback for design refinement.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs with other system components.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong portfolio of past projects.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, CATIA, or similar).
• Understanding of general engineering principles and common manufacturing techniques.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks effectively.
• Good communication skills for effective teamwork and reporting.
