Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Norwich, Norfolk , with a hybrid working model . This role is key to developing and refining mechanical designs for innovative products, ensuring they are functional, reliable, and manufacturable. You will be involved in the entire design process, from initial concept sketches to detailed production-ready drawings, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software , ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, including dimensioning, tolerancing, and material specifications.
• Perform basic calculations and simulations to support design validation and optimization.
• Collaborate with the production and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for efficient and cost-effective assembly.
• Contribute to the documentation of designs, including BOMs and technical reports.
• Assist in the prototype building and testing phases, documenting results and implementing necessary design changes.

Requirements

• BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and a solid understanding of mechanical principles.
• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes and materials.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
