Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Norwich . This role is integral to the design and development of new mechanical components and systems, contributing to the enhancement of their product portfolio. You will work within a dedicated engineering department, translating concepts into detailed designs and supporting them through to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, aiming to deliver high-quality engineering solutions in a competitive market.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform design calculations and analysis to ensure product performance and durability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to resolve design challenges and ensure manufacturability.
• Support prototype builds and testing, providing technical input for modifications.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of product designs and engineering processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and standard office software.
• Understanding of common manufacturing processes and materials.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
