About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their thriving engineering department in Birmingham . This role focuses on conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative mechanical solutions for a range of industrial applications. You will play a key part in transforming project requirements into tangible, high-performance designs, working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams. Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed mechanical designs for new products and system improvements using CAD software.
Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical drawings.
Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other simulations to ensure design integrity.
Collaborate with the manufacturing team to address production challenges and optimize designs for manufacturability.
Assist in the development and execution of design validation and verification testing plans.
Troubleshoot design-related issues that arise during development or production phases.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, with a strong portfolio of design work.
Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software packages.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to work effectively within a project team and communicate technical information clearly.
Commitment to safety and quality in all design aspects.
