Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer to join their busy design office in Portsmouth . This role is integral to the creation and refinement of mechanical systems for a variety of innovative products. You will work collaboratively within a dedicated engineering team, contributing to all stages of the design process, from initial concept development to detailed drawings and manufacturing support. This is an excellent entry to mid-level opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to build their career in a hands-on environment in Hampshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts and assemblies using CAD software , ensuring functional requirements are met.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for production.
• Conduct basic stress analysis and performance calculations to support design decisions.
• Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are suitable for production and to resolve any fabrication issues.
• Assist in the testing and validation of prototype components and systems.
• Contribute to design reviews and maintain accurate project documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally with some product development exposure.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Basic understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing techniques.
• Good problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Team player with effective communication abilities.
