About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Lead to join their established engineering team in Stoke-on-Trent . This leadership role involves overseeing the entire mechanical design process, from initial concept to final product release, ensuring that all designs meet stringent quality and performance standards. You will manage a team of designers and engineers, provide technical direction, and collaborate closely with other departments to achieve project objectives. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented professional with a strong background in mechanical design and a passion for leading engineering initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of mechanical designers and engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
• Oversee the creation and development of mechanical designs, ensuring they are optimized for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Develop project plans, set design priorities, and manage timelines effectively.
• Conduct and review design validation, testing, and performance analysis.
• Liaise with manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful product implementation.
• Champion best practices in design engineering and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, with at least 2 years in a team lead or supervisory role.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor ) and basic analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques, materials, and engineering principles.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
