About the Role
Our client, a leader in marine technology, is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Plymouth . This role involves the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems for marine applications, including subsea equipment, propulsion systems, and hull structures. You will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and performance of our products in challenging marine environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of naval architecture principles, material science, and experience with systems operating in harsh conditions, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in maritime engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer mechanical systems and components for marine vessels and offshore structures.
- Perform structural analysis and performance simulations for components subjected to extreme pressures and corrosive environments.
- Develop detailed 3D models , technical drawings, and specifications for manufacturing and assembly.
- Collaborate with naval architects, electrical engineers, and project managers to ensure system integration and compliance with maritime standards.
- Conduct testing and validation of mechanical systems, including sea trials and environmental testing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues encountered in marine applications and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in Plymouth .
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with marine or offshore industry exposure.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and FEA tools .
- Knowledge of materials suitable for marine environments and corrosion protection methods.
- Familiarity with maritime regulations and classification society requirements.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a project-driven environment in Plymouth .
