Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding product development team in Reading . This role is crucial for taking innovative product concepts and translating them into robust, market-ready designs. You will be involved in all phases of the product lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping to testing and production support. This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineer to gain broad experience within a supportive team in the Berkshire technology corridor, working on exciting new consumer and industrial products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for new products using CAD software .
• Create detailed drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Conduct basic stress analysis and performance simulations to validate designs.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development process.
• Build and test prototypes, identifying and resolving design issues.
• Support the transition of designs into mass production, working with manufacturing partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience in mechanical design and product development, ideally including internships.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
• Basic understanding of engineering analysis principles and a willingness to learn.
• Familiarity with common manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining).
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
