Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join their Product Development team in Southampton . This role is vital for the design, development, and testing of new mechanical products, ensuring they meet high standards of performance, quality, and user experience. You will collaborate closely with a cross-functional team, contributing to all stages of the product lifecycle, from ideation and concept development through to production release. This hybrid position allows for focused work and innovation both remotely and in our state-of-the-art facilities, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new mechanical systems and components, ensuring adherence to product specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models , engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Conduct tolerance analysis , stress calculations, and basic simulation (e.g., FEA) to validate designs.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to ensure designs are optimized for cost-effective production.
• Build and test prototypes, documenting results and making necessary design revisions.
• Support existing products by resolving design-related issues and implementing improvements.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks , PTC Creo).
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
• Good understanding of material properties and selection.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid team environment.
