About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join their product development team in Leeds . This role is critical in the innovation and realization of new mechanical products, from initial concept through to market launch. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise in design, analysis, and prototyping. The hybrid work model ensures a balance between focused individual work and essential team collaboration, making this an ideal position for an engineer who values both autonomy and teamwork in a supportive development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test new mechanical components and systems using CAD software and prototyping tools.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress analysis and thermal modeling, to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and software developers to translate product requirements into functional mechanical solutions.
- Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and assembly instructions for manufacturing.
- Participate in product validation and verification testing, documenting results and implementing design improvements.
- Troubleshoot design issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in product development or mechanical design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar.
- Experience with FEA analysis and understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
- Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting.
