Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join their product development team in Leeds . This role is critical in the innovation and realization of new mechanical products, from initial concept through to market launch. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing your expertise in design, analysis, and prototyping. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test new mechanical components and systems using CAD software and prototyping tools.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis, including stress analysis and thermal modeling, to ensure product reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and software developers to translate product requirements into functional mechanical solutions.
• Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and assembly instructions for manufacturing.
• Participate in product validation and verification testing, documenting results and implementing design improvements.
• Troubleshoot design issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in product development or mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar.
• Experience with FEA analysis and understanding of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, sheet metal fabrication).
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting.
