Mechanical Engineer - R&D

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and technically proficient Mechanical Engineer to join their Research and Development team in Reading . This role is pivotal in driving innovation and developing next-generation mechanical systems and products. You will be involved in the entire R&D process, from ideation and concept design through to prototyping and initial testing. Working within a collaborative and forward-thinking team, this hybrid position offers a dynamic blend of remote work and essential in-person engagement in our Reading facility, fostering a creative and efficient development environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage in the full lifecycle of mechanical product development, from initial concept and feasibility studies to detailed design and prototyping.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models , engineering drawings, and specifications for components and systems.
• Conduct FEA and CFD analysis to evaluate design performance and optimize for efficiency and robustness.
• Build and test prototypes, documenting findings and iterating on designs based on test results.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and software developers, in a hybrid setting.
• Research and implement new technologies and materials to enhance product capabilities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design and R&D, preferably in a hybrid or collaborative environment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks , CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS).
• Strong understanding of dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and experimental testing.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
