About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join their specialized projects team in Plymouth . This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about working on unique and challenging mechanical designs for niche applications. You will be involved in all phases of the design process, from initial concept generation to detailed design, prototyping, and testing. Working within a close-knit team, you'll contribute to innovative solutions for bespoke engineering challenges, requiring meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop specialized mechanical components, mechanisms, and systems according to project-specific requirements.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Conduct mechanical analysis, including load calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and basic stress analysis , to ensure design integrity.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to translate designs into functional hardware.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities, documenting results and proposing design improvements.
- Contribute to technical documentation, specifications, and reports for project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design and development.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Basic understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with testing and validation of mechanical components is advantageous.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with an aptitude for problem-solving.
