Mechanical Engineer – Building Maintenance Team Leader | 40 Hours/Week | Temp to Perm | Own Transport Required Immediate Start Available – Thursday 24th September 2026

Are you a Mechanical Engineer with the leadership skills to run a busy maintenance operation across a major, fast-paced manufacturing site?

We're recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineer to take on a Building Maintenance Team Leader role at a large-scale food production facility that operates around the clock. It's a genuinely varied and important site to work on, with occasional travel to a second nearby site - no two days will look the same, and you'll be at the centre of keeping critical infrastructure running.

This is a hands-on, reactive-focused leadership role. You'll supervise a team of skilled tradespeople, coordinate day-to-day maintenance priorities, and liaise directly with the client to make sure jobs are tracked and completed through the CMMS system. You'll work closely with the service desk to ensure work is processed and logged accurately, and you'll be the one advising on best practice, assessing job requirements, and completing RAMS where needed.

The Role

• Supervise and lead a team of tradespeople and sub-contractors

• Oversee delivery of building services maintenance across the site

• Liaise with the client and service desk, logging and tracking jobs via CMMS

• Advise on best practice and complete RAMS as required

• Arrange materials, equipment and external contractors where needed

• Promote a strong health & safety culture across the team

• 40 hours/week, temp to perm opportunity

• Immediate start available - as soon as Thursday 24th September 2026

What We're Looking For:

• A Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record in building maintenance or building services

• Experience supervising or leading a team ----this Mechanical Engineer role is about managing people, not just plant

• A Mechanical Engineer confident building relationships with clients and colleagues

• Full UK driving licence essential

• Desirable: a relevant trade or Mechanical Engineer qualification, plus a Health & Safety qualification

• Desirable: previous experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role within a manufacturing environment
