Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join one of our long standing clients at their new site.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant machinery through reactive maintenance, fault finding, repairs, and planned preventative maintenance. You'll play a key part in minimising downtime and keeping production running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out reactive mechanical maintenance and emergency breakdown repairs.
* Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
* Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on plant equipment.
* Inspect, service, and repair conveyors, shredders, screens, hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and associated plant machinery.
* Work closely with the operations team to minimise production downtime.
* Identify and report recurring faults and suggest improvements to increase equipment reliability.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work documentation.
* Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
* Previous experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Plant Engineer, or similar.
* Experience working within recycling, manufacturing, aggregates, quarrying, waste management, or another heavy industrial environment.
* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
* Experience working with conveyors, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and rotating equipment.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
* Welding and fabrication experience.
* Experience using CMMS or other maintenance management systems.
* Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
