About the Role
Our client is seeking a proactive Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their industrial operations based in Coventry, West Midlands . This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all mechanical systems within our facilities. You will be responsible for executing both planned and reactive maintenance tasks, contributing to a safe and productive working environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a keen eye for detail, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of engineering excellence and operational reliability. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to minimize equipment failures and optimize performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance on a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults, including gearbox, pump, and conveyor system issues.
- Interpret engineering drawings and schematics to facilitate repairs and modifications.
- Respond to breakdowns promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring production continuity.
- Participate in the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts used, and recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in a mechanical maintenance role within an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission.
- Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using workshop tools and diagnostic equipment.
- A relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC) is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety.
