Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

This is a permanent Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role based in Dudley. You will be employed by a well‑established heavy engineering manufacturer specialising in ductile iron and steel castings for turbochargers, manifold, and wider engineering sectors.

The role offers a basic salary up to £35,000 per annum with overtime at £20 per hour and at £33.65 on Sundays. Shifts include day, afternoon, and night, each 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain gearboxes, bearings, cylinders, valves, pumps, and rotating equipment.
• Perform welding, cutting, grinding, and general fabrication work.
• Support TPM and continuous improvement activities.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve plant performance.
• Contribute to safety, reliability, and operational improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy industrial environments such as foundry, steel, quarrying, aggregates, recycling, cement, or similar manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical fitting skills and proven fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability.
• Experience with hydraulics, valves, cylinders, bearings, rotating equipment, pneumatic systems, mechanical gearboxes, transmissions, pumps, conveyors, and industrial machinery.
• Welding, cutting, and grinding skills.
• Basic electrical fault‑finding knowledge.
• Hands‑on approach and strong commitment to safety.
• Foundry experience is beneficial but not essential.
