About the Role
Our client is actively recruiting a proactive and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer for their facility in Cardiff . This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal functionality and reliability of all mechanical systems and machinery within the plant. You will be instrumental in minimizing downtime through effective preventative maintenance and rapid response to breakdowns. The successful candidate will possess strong diagnostic skills and a deep understanding of mechanical systems, working as part of a dedicated maintenance team committed to upholding the highest standards of operational efficiency and safety in the Installation & Maintenance field.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
- Respond promptly to mechanical equipment failures, diagnosing faults and performing necessary repairs to restore functionality.
- Overhaul and repair complex mechanical components, including gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals to guide maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work undertaken, including parts used and time spent.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and equipment reliability.
Requirements
- Apprenticeship or formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in industrial mechanical maintenance, including PPM and reactive maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of various mechanical systems (e.g., hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills and a commitment to workplace safety.
