About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their industrial operations team in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK . This role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of manufacturing and processing equipment. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing mechanical faults, and carrying out repairs to minimize operational disruptions. The successful candidate will have a strong hands-on ability, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment within a busy production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on a variety of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Perform inspections of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
- Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations on the workshop floor and production lines.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician in an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and power transmission.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Skilled in using hand and power tools, as well as precision measuring instruments.
- A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential equipment failures.
- Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
