About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of industrial machinery and plant equipment. You will be responsible for carrying out a range of maintenance activities, from routine servicing to complex repairs, at our client's facilities. This is a hands-on position that requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of mechanical systems. The successful candidate will be a key player in preventing downtime and maintaining safety standards within the operational environment in Tyne and Wear .
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment to identify and address potential issues.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical failures in production machinery, pumps, conveyors, and other industrial systems.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide repair work.
- Operate workshop equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and welding equipment, as needed.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to implement improvements in equipment reliability and performance.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician or similar role in an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, gears, and bearings.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools for mechanical repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and schematics.
- A commitment to safety and a good understanding of workshop safety procedures.
- Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeships in mechanical engineering or a related field are advantageous.
