Mechanical Project Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to manage and execute key engineering projects within their facility in Portsmouth . This role requires a blend of technical expertise and strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from planning and resource allocation to execution and final handover, working closely with internal teams and external suppliers. This position is ideal for a motivated engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects and driving successful outcomes in a dynamic industrial setting, requiring on-site presence for seamless project coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and oversee mechanical engineering projects, defining project scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, procurement, and quality assurance.
• Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost-effective project delivery.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing potential issues to prevent delays.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Prepare and present project status reports to management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (4+ years) in project engineering or project management within a mechanical engineering context.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
• Familiarity with CAD software and engineering design principles.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
