Mechanical Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their dedicated team based in Milton Keynes . This role is pivotal in designing, integrating, and validating complex mechanical systems for innovative product developments. You will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical aspects of projects meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and safety. This position requires a hands-on approach and close collaboration with other engineering disciplines, research and development, and manufacturing teams to bring groundbreaking ideas to fruition within a focused, in-office environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop intricate mechanical systems and sub-systems from concept to final implementation.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, analyses (e.g., stress, thermal, kinematic), and simulations to verify design integrity.
• Create and manage all necessary engineering documentation, including schematics , blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototypes and production units, ensuring quality and adherence to design intent.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, on-site in Milton Keynes .
• Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and improve manufacturability.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Significant professional experience in the design and development of complex mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks) and simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and solid mechanics.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills required for an on-site role.
• Experience with project management and a track record of delivering successful engineering projects.
